Find an Auspicious Date

Search the Chinese almanac by month to find the best dates for your plans.

The Chinese almanac (Tong Shu) identifies auspicious and inauspicious dates for important life events — weddings, business openings, moving house, renovations, and travel. Each day is assigned one of 12 Day Officers that characterise its energy.

Why Date Selection Matters

Date selection (择日, Zé Rì) is one of the most practical applications of the Chinese almanac. For centuries, families and businesses across East Asia have consulted the Tong Shu before scheduling weddings, moving house, opening a business, or beginning construction.

By matching the energy of the day to the nature of your activity, you increase the likelihood of a smooth, successful outcome. The system considers the Day Officer, Heavenly Stem, Earthly Branch, and element interactions to assess each day's character.

It's not about finding a "perfect" day — it's about avoiding days that work against your plans and choosing ones where the energy naturally supports what you're trying to accomplish.

How to Find Your Date

Use the selector above or browse to the month you're planning for.

Step 2: Check the day

Look for days marked as Auspicious (green) or Favorable (teal). Each day lists specific suitable activities.

Step 3: Match to your event

Different events suit different officers. A Success Day is perfect for business. An Open Day suits launches and weddings.

How to Read Results

Auspicious (green)

The day's energy strongly supports this activity — an ideal choice.

Favorable (blue)

A good day with positive energy — a solid backup if the top picks don't suit your schedule.

Cautious (amber)

Proceed with awareness — the day's energy is neutral or mixed for this activity.

Not all days are listed — days rated as Unfavorable are excluded from results to keep the view focused on your best options.

Universal dates are a starting point. Your birth chart reveals which auspicious days are personally strongest for you.
