How the 12 Officers Work
The 12 Day Officers, known as the Jianchu (建除) system, form a cycle that repeats every 12 days throughout the Chinese calendar. Each officer carries a distinct energy that shapes the character of the day and influences which activities are likely to succeed or encounter obstacles.
Officers are grouped into five tiers based on their overall quality. Auspicious officers mark the best days for important events. Favorable officers support most everyday activities. Neutral officers carry no strong pull either way. Cautious officers call for careful planning, while Unfavorable officers suggest postponing significant decisions when possible.
